Singapore Nordic Network

Improving the
Nasi Lemak situation
in the Nordics.

Let's be honest, it's a bit jialat up here. So we started a kampung: a place for Singaporeans in the Nordics to feel anchored, share our culture, and pass it on to our kids.

Born out of love for Singapore. Run by volunteers in Oslo. Free to join, for now.

About us

It takes a community
to build a community.

Singapore Nordic Network was formed to build a kampung for fellow Singaporeans living far from home. We want to help each other feel anchored, emotionally and culturally, and to build a Nordic network and awareness of Singaporean culture and identity.

🤝

Build the kampung

Bring Singaporeans and friends of Singapore together, so nobody has to feel like the only one in the room who misses kaya toast.

🎬

Share our culture

Show the Nordics what Singapore is about: our food, our films, our stories and our very own way of speaking, lah.

🧒

Pass it on

Help our children, growing up in snow and midnight sun, know where their parents come from and be proud of it.

Who is this for?

Singaporean, connected, or just curious.
Come lah.

What we've done so far

Our festival

Singapore Nordic Film Festival

Our biggest initiative so far. Two days of Singaporean cinema, food and family activities in Oslo, run by the same volunteers behind this network.

Why we do it

Singapore on the big screen, up north.

The festival is born out of love and passion for Singapore. We want:

  • To commemorate Singapore's independence and progress with fellow Singaporeans
  • To share and pass on our heritage to our children
  • To showcase Singapore to our Nordic audience
  • To build a bridge between Asia and Europe, where collaboration and co-production can happen

Joining costs nothing. For now.

Want to start something?

We're still learning what our community needs. If you would like to take the leap and organise an initiative, get in touch. We can help with resources. We're especially keen on:

  • Cultural events: festivals, food, film, music, kebaya nights
  • Networking for Singaporeans working or studying in the Nordics
  • Activities that help children be aware of Singaporean culture
